{"id":667,"date":"2017-02-08T13:41:38","date_gmt":"2017-02-08T13:41:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.darrenlambert.com\/?page_id=667"},"modified":"2019-08-31T05:15:08","modified_gmt":"2019-08-31T05:15:08","slug":"wordpress","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.darrenlambert.com\/wordpress\/","title":{"rendered":"WordPress tips and hints"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been a WordPress developer for 10 years, and have worked on hundreds of different websites. \u00a0Here I&#8217;ll stay tips, themes, and plugins that I find make running a WordPress site easier and more fun.<\/p>\n<h2>Plugins<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en-gb.wordpress.org\/plugins\/broken-link-checker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Broken Link Checker<\/a> &#8211; Periodically scans your site and tells you where the broken links. \u00a0The admin UI makes it super easy to update the links, without having to edit the post\/page. \u00a0Can be used to really easily audit comments, and remove the URLs if necessary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en-gb.wordpress.org\/plugins\/favhero-favicon-generator\/screenshots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Heroic Favicon Generator<\/a> &#8211; Allows you to upload a single image and then it generates all of the various favicon formats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/page-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Page-list<\/a> &#8211; Useful for making a simple site-map (non XML).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en-gb.wordpress.org\/plugins\/woocommerce-email-test\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WooCommerce Email Test<\/a> &#8211; Preview WooCommerce templates in the browser.\u00a0 Useful for testing email template changes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/wp-mail-logging\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WP Mail Logging<\/a> &#8211; Log all outgoing emails.\u00a0 Useful for monitoring and resolving email issues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Web Apps<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mailtrap.io\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mailtrap.io<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Intercepts all outgoing emails sent from WordPress (or MAMP, or whatever you like), so that you can easily check emails.\u00a0 Especially useful for membership sites to prevent emailing members accidentally.<\/p>\n<h2>Services<\/h2>\n<p>Create a Privacy Policy easily with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocketlawyer.co.uk\/documents-and-forms\/website-privacy-policy.rl#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.rocketlawyer.co.uk<\/a> or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopify.co.uk\/tools\/policy-generator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.shopify.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Remove non ASCII characters from code with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pteo.paranoiaworks.mobi\/diacriticsremover\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">diacriticsremover<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been a WordPress developer for 10 years, and have worked on hundreds of different websites. \u00a0Here I&#8217;ll stay tips, themes, and plugins that I find make running a WordPress site easier and more fun.
